Maggie Lyon is a writer on wellness and spirituality, a motivational speaker, and a holistic lifestyle consultant. In addition to her blog LyonLifestyle.com, Maggie writes a bi-monthly column for Feminist.com, and contributes regularly to Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Foundation website. She has written for Yoga Journal, The Huffington Post, DrFrankLipman.com, and TheBeautyBean.com. She has also been featured on Vital Juice NY, and in Black Ink and Japanese Jane magazines.

Maggie has been committed to holistic living, personal growth, and wellness since her teen years growing up in Northern California. At age 16, Maggie began dedicated practices in both Zen Buddhism and Iyengar Yoga. These practices continue to serve as the pillars of her spiritual development and profoundly inform all that she offers to the world.

In 1999, Maggie moved to New York City where she worked in the fashion and publishing industries. In 2002, she earned her Masters degree in Education from Teachers College, Columbia. She taught English and writing until the birth of her son in late 2004, and went on to write a novel.

Suddenly, in December 2006, Maggie became severely ill with a case of amoebic dysentery, and ensuing endocrine, immune, and nervous system damage. Her body broke down, and life as she knew it evaporated. Shell-shocked, Maggie dove headlong into spiritual practice, explored a myriad of healing modalities, and organized an incredible team of alternative practitioners. Over the course of three years, Maggie rebuilt her body, healed her trauma, and regained her life, while deeply expanding her spiritual wisdom.

Along her powerful journey, Maggie became intensely aware that her path is one of service, in guiding others on their individual quests to rebuild themselves and thereby awaken to the sweetness in life. In 2009, she founded Lyon Lifestyle, and has since devoted her life to writing, speaking, and consulting on wellness, spirituality, and sweet transformation.

In addition to her remarkable personal experiences and continuing studies in Zen, yoga, holistic nutrition, natural health, and energy medicine, Maggie is certified in Intuitive and Natural Wellness.

She lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
